You’re invited to observe Veterans Day with us

Posted in: Community, Events by T. Wetzel

Veterans, families, friends, and the community are invited to observe Veterans Day with the Wilmot Administration, faculty, and students. On Tuesday, November 11, 2014 we will have breakfast and an all-school assembly to recognize and thank our Veterans (read more).

In addition to the Veterans breakfast and assembly, we also invite all to attend a viewing of the movie “Honor Flight”.  The movie will be shown in the WUHS auditorium on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 beginning at 6:00 PM.  Our hope is that this community viewing might open some discussions and lead to sharing of stories and experiences with our students so that they too can gain an appreciation for what service means.  There is no RSVP required to attend.  We plan to have water and popcorn available.  Any donations from the evening will go to support Honor Flight activities.

Ranked in Top High Schools 2014

Posted in: Community, General by T. Wetzel

For the second consecutive year, Wilmot Union High School has made The Daily Beast’s Top Ranked High Schools. The full list of schools can be seen here. Feel free to spread the word by posting this great news on your Twitter and Facebook status.

The Daily Beast reached out to the nation’s best high schools to find out which were turning out the top students. To come up with our initial pool, we consulted 2012/2013 data from the Department of Education and contacted public schools with above-average graduation rates of at least 85 percent. Around 1,200 public schools completed our survey, then we crunched the numbers further, comparing schools by graduation and college acceptance rates, as well as their academic rigor using AP, IB, and AICE classes and test scores, and finally, student performance on college admission exams, another indicator of a school’s preparation.
