Historical Development of Wilmot Union High School

1879 – Course of study through 10th grade
1903 – Extended to 4-year high school
1905 – First graduating class: 7 students
1908 – State legislation passed a law to establish Union High Schools
1912 – Union High School District mapped out
1918 – 2-room addition completed
1922 – Separate gym erected
1929 – 2 additional classrooms and restrooms were added
1933 – New Year’s morning fire destroyed the building
1933 – Construction began on old part of building in May
1933 – Building completed in October
1950 – District enlarged to include Villages of Twin Lakes and the entire Township of Randall
1951 – Building addition: classrooms and gym
1962 – Building addition: Science and Home Economics classrooms
1969 – Building addition
1992 – $3,200,000 Addition and Renovation: gym turned into a cafeteria, new gymnasium added, 13 classrooms added
1997 – Enrollment exceeded 900 students
1998 – $2,675,000 Removed and Replaced 1933 portion of the school
2000 – Enrollment exceeded 1000 students
2002 – Enrollment exceeded 1100 students
2004 – $39,900,000 Construction and Renovation: Added over 200,000 square feet to existing building including performing arts center, field house, commons, high school offices, guidance offices, green house, technical education workshops, band/choral area, locker rooms, science labs, and multiple classrooms. Additionally, a stadium with artificial turf was built and the Panther Athletic Complex west of Wilmot on Highway C was purchased.
