Another successful Spring Fling

The Wilmot Student Council hosted another fun Spring Fling this past weekend. Spring Fling is a prom for students with disabilities. Students from several area schools were invited. There were about 100 students who attended with their guests. It’s a very special event that the Student Council students enjoy hosting. A few alumni even came to help out again. PSAT/NMSQT Test coming this Fall

Students in the class of 2015 are encouraged to take the PSAT/NMSQT test this coming fall. The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical thinking skills that are important for success in college, including critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills. Read more…

Biomedical Engineering program earns PLTW national certification

WUHS has received national certification for its Project Lead The Way (PLTW) program that it has been offering since 2011. [This is the second time the school has gone through the national certification process to validate its program.] PLTW, a nonprofit organization and the nation’s leading provider of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education programs, offers a rigorous world-class curriculum that allows students to apply what they are learning in math and science class to real-life biomedical science projects. PLTW also prides itself on high-quality professional development of its teachers and an engaged network of business, community and university partners to give students the fullest experience.

Wilmot is one of nine schools in Wisconsin to earn PLTW certification in Engineering & Biomedical Engineering. The following WUHS staff deserve recognition for their hard work for the success of this program: Mrs. Joch, Mrs. Greil, and Mrs. Kothe.

Key Club selling YUDA Bands to help kids in 3rd world countries

For the next two weeks (April 22nd- May 3rd) the Key Club will be selling YUDA Bands in the commons during lunch. YUDA bands are fashionable bracelets that are sold to send children in 3rd world countries to school. The price of a YUDA band is just $7. You can watch this video to learn more.

Next listening session with District Administrator 4/10

The Wilmot UHS District Administrator, Dan Kopp, will be hosting a Listening Session on April 10, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 180 of the High School. These meetings will occur every 2 to 3 months and there will be no specific agenda for these meetings. The District Administrator will be present in order to hear your comments and answer your questions. Occasionally, those in attendance may be asked for their opinion or guidance on a specific topic/issue. All parents/guardians, students, and community members are welcome.
