DECA Nationals ’10

Kailee Wahler and Cody Guetzow

This year Wilmot has three of the eight DECA state contestants going to nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. Kailee Wahler, Cody Guetzow, and Nick Crifase will be leaving this weekend to compete against the top DECA students in the United States. They will have to take  two tests and do two role plays. They will need to use marketing skills that they have learned in classes to outsmart the other students and medal. Mrs. Grochowski, Wilmot’s DECA advisor will be with them to help them study and prepare before their tasks. Hopefully they will all come back with medals. Good Luck!

End of the season?

Wilmot Mountain at Sunset

Wilmot Mountain at Sunset

We all surely know that our little groundhog friend saw his shadow–which means 6 more weeks of winter. However, Wilmot Mountain is literally feeling the heat. With spring in sight, there are only a few more weeks left in this ski season. The projected time left for the local ski resort is down to 2-4 weeks. So if you are a ski/snowboarding fanatic, now is your chance to get in before the season ends. With the warming temperatures, the ride will be comfortable, but that means that the snow base is depleting. Your chance to ski or snowboard is almost over. Get in your fun before the sun gets here!

DECA State ’10

Again this year our DECA chapter will be travelling to the Grand Geneva Resort for the annual DECA state competition on March 9th through the 11th. This year our chapter will be represented by eight students, which are:

Seniors- Kailee Wahler, Courtney White, and Nick Crifase

Juniors – Cody Guetzow, Ashley Dargan, Sara Dillon, Kelly ONeill,  and Ben Hejhal

They will be participating in various business and marketing categories and each competitor will have to do two role plays and will have to take two tests. Best of luck to all competitors in state!

How are we doing?

Starting in October, the students of Advanced Web Site Design began putting up blog posts in this column. These dealt with a variety of topics, from Current Events, to technology, even to types of deodorant, nearly every subject has been touched on. But now we’re turning to you, the audience. What would you like to hear about?

What Should We Blog About?

What Should We Blog About?

Maybe you want to know more about the new Movie in the Twilight saga (…maybe you want the very opposite), or perhaps you want to hear more about the preferred type of deodorant amongst students here at Wilmot; whatever it is, leave us a comment, and we will try our hardest to get you information on the subject and satisfy your curiosity. ;)

On Friday, Wilmot held its annual Homecoming Pep Rally.  Students were greeted by pep band music as they entered the Field House.  Shortly after, the Homecoming Court was brought out. It consisted of freshmen representatives Chaz Schmidt and Jayden Berg, sophomores Billy Akers and Olivia Faber, juniors Hannah Greisen and Ryan Guetzow. The senior representatives were Steven Summers and Alex Romani, and Ryan Fox and Dana Chellman. Tj Goralski and Ashley Romani were announced this year’s Homecoming King and Queen.

Next, the chorus performed a song and dance combination. The Homecoming Court came back out to perform a type of pie eating contest in which juniors Hannah Greisen and Ryan Guetzow won. Afterwards, the staff came onto the court to engage in a game of tug-o-war.  They were divided into teams of Packers fans and Bears fans. After a struggle the Bears fans overcome and won the game. When the staff left up came the cheerleaders. They preformed their dance and stunts to a mixed song. Finally Mr. Irresistible was announced. The winner was Tyler Thomas. Lastly our fall athletes were given credit along with a pep speech from Mr. Greinke, our head football coach.

Key Club Goes To Camp Wawbeek

This past weekend the Wilmot Key Club went to Camp Wawbeek in the Wisconsin Dells to help with their Fall Sprawl and pancake breakfast.  Camp Wawbeek is a camp devoted to helping people with physical and mental disabilities, no matter how severe, the camp treats both of the events mentioned above as found raisers.

The Key Club goes up to Wawbeek at least once a year, sometimes twice.  The club got there late on friday and as soon as everyones things were in the room they sent us to work.  The club cleared out a shed and moved everything into their gym in preparation for the Fall Sprawl the following morning.

The next morning the club was split into groups and we were sent off to do various jobs.  Some were told to go work in the kitchen, some to hand out water to the runners, and some to simply cheer on the campers.  After the Sprawl was finished, the club was brought back to the main part of the camp and was then told to clean up the kitchen.  Later in the day the club helped the campers carve pumpkins.  On sunday the club helped with their pancake breakfast, cleaned the dorms in which they stayed and went home.  It was an extreamly successful trip.  On a side note the advisor of the club Marline Tilsner won a football which was autographed by all of the Green Bay Packers.
