The Junior Varsity girls volleyball team played their last set of matches at Burlington High School yesterday (10/15) for the Southern Lakes Conference Tournament. They started out by playing the host of the tournament, the Burlington Demons, and ended up loosing both games, 6-21 and 8-21, Burlington was announced all Southern Lakes Conference Champs by the end of the night. Wilmot just couldn’t find the opening to hit the ball against the Demons.
Since they lost to Burlington, Wilmot was put in the consolation bracket, going for 5th place. The girls went into their second match of the night, against Badger High School. After a couple errors the girls pulled it together and had unbeatable serving, hitting, and blocking. They didn’t let any balls drop, or let Badger get any more points. The ending scores of the games were, 21-6 and 21-5. They had six kills overall.

After playing two awesome games vs. Badger and winning the match, they went off to play the Union Grove Broncos, for the title of 5th place. The Broncos had good defense, and dug almost every ball that Wilmot hit at them. The Panthers still managed to get seven kills on UG. Union Grove gave Wilmot two exciting games, and a lot of long lasting rallies they had to earn. The Panthers came up a little short in the end with the final scores being, 18-21 and 14-21. It was a tough lost for Wilmot.
By loosing against Union Grove, Wilmot came in 6th place, in the overall conference. The girls tried their best, and still had a great season to look back to. The team consisted of Katelyn Clark, Casandra Epping, Caitlyn Haag, Nicole Madriaga, Brenna Palecek, Morgan Schilz, Raven Schook, Sarah Vozel, Alyssa Zembrzuski, and Coach Gruber. Great job girls!
The WHS Girls Varsity Volleyball took to their own Wilmot Field House. Winning all three games against CLS ( Christian Life School). The first game came out with Wilmot on top with a score of 25-20.
Then it was another win in the second game for the Panthers. As the score turned out to be 25- 17. Christian life played a good game and was tough to get by, but a couple good serves was enough to put them ahead.
The third game held more suspense than any other game as the girls got with in 5 points of winning the game. CLS came up and caught up and it came down to the final two points. The game came out to be Wilmot on top with the victory of 26 – 24. It was a very exciting game and kept the crowd on their toes. Congratulations girls. You did awesome.
