242 Reinvented

Room 242

An Unfinished Room 242

Not only am I a senior here at WUHS, I had the privilege of working here this summer as an IT assistant. My largest project included installing 30 new iMacs in room 242, the heart of classes such as Word Processing, Web Site Design, and Advanced Web Site Design. Helping me along the process was Josh Betz, a WUHS graduate of 2009.  Josh taught me a couple lessons throughout the whole ordeal such as how to properly crimp some CAT6 (an ethernet cable) and enlightened me in “the ways of the Mac”. In return, I acted as his assistant and opened his eyes to the musical talent of Ben Harper. We were having a great time, however we had no idea of what we were getting ourselves into. Administration of a Mac proved to be somewhat difficult and time consuming, but eventually we got the hang of it.

We were racing time because Josh had to leave a week before school started because he had to prepare for college life up at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Eventually we came to the conclusion that 242 was “good enough” for the beginning of school. After the computers got some use I realized that “good enough” was, in fact, not good enough. Actually, in the first couple days of school, nobody could even login! In the end the new arrangement worked out great, and I have no reason to doubt that it will serve my fellow students for years to come.

Discover Italy and France in the summer of 2011!

Traveling is an excellent way to broaden students’ education outside the classroom.  Mrs. Deborah Fragale, Language Arts Department Chair and teacher, is planning her fourth student trip to Italy and France for June, 2011.  This unforgettable travel experience is planned through Explorica, a worldwide educational travel company. This 10-day tour of northern Italy and France includes visits to Venice, Florence, Verona, Siena, Pisa, Monaco, Nice, and Paris.  From St. Mark’s Square in Venice to a cruise on the Seine in Paris under the Eiffel Tower, this unforgettable trip will have students smiling like Mona Lisa for years to come. To view the detailed itinerary and to sign-up visit the Explorica website at www.myexplorica.com/Fragale-7837 or contact Explorica at 1-888-310-7120 and mention the tour Fragale-7837. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Fragale at 262/862-2351 extension 148 or at fragaled@wilmoths.k12.wi.us.   When school is not in session, you can contact Mrs. Fragale at deborahfragale@yahoo.com.  Parents, relatives, friends and community members are welcome, too!
