Senior Awards Night – May 26

Wilmot Union High School will host its annual Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. A reception will be held in the School Commons from 6:30-7:00 p.m. with the Awards Ceremony beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the School Auditorium.

The focus of the program is to recognize the academic and service accomplishments of the Wilmot High School Class of 2010.

Senior Athletes Commit to College

Four of Wilmot’s senior athletes have been presented with opportunities to play at the collegiate level and have made commitments to enroll after graduating high school. We congratulate them on their success while at Wilmot, and wish the best of luck in their future.

Landon Tenhagen has signed with Madison Area Technical College (D-3)

  • Scholarship: $1,000 per year
  • Major: Liberal Arts education, Physical Education
  • Sport: Baseball

Kailee Wahler has been accepted at UW-Oshkosh (D-3)

  • Major:  Business Administration & Spanish
  • Sport:  Golf

Melissa Webster accepted at York College in Nebraska (D-2)

  • Scholarship:  full athletic scholarship/ academic scholarship will be determined pending final GPA
  • Major:  Medical Kinesiology
  • Sport:  Softball

Emily Hamilton has signed with UW-Milwaukee (D-1)

  • Scholarship:  Full tuition paid for athletics
  • Major:  Secondary Education and Biology
  • Sport:  Cross Country and Track

Take Advantage of the Panther Educational Assistant Program!

Do you have a study hall or two that you could careless for? Ever wondered what it would be like to work alongside one of your favorite teachers? Then the Panther Educational Assistant Program, which is commonly known as Teacher Assisting (TA), may be for you!

TAing gives students the opportunity to work closely with teachers and other personnel here at WUHS. Although the program is offered to only Juniors and Seniors, exceptions are made for freshman and sophomores if they are approved by the administration.  There are four catagories in which you can apply for: Peer tutoring, office assistance, IT assistance, and teacher assistance.

Each job comes with it’s own set of duties and responsibilities. You also earn parts of a credit through these jobs. They are as follows:

  • Peer Tutoring: 1/2 credit per semester. Enrollment into this program requires a teacher and school counselor approval.The duties for this job are self explanatory.
  • Office Assistant: 1/4 credit per semester. This job includes working in the student services office (Guidance) and the main office (Attendance). Duties for this job are: sorting mail, answering phones, filing, sorting, running messages to classrooms, etc. This position requires office personnel and school counselor approval.
  • Teacher Assistant: 1/4 credit per semester. This job consists of working under teachers in the following departments: P.E., Tech Ed., Family and Consumer Education, Band, School Store, and any other lab based classes.
  • IT Assistant: 1/4 credit per semester. Duties for this job consist of pc repairs and set up, tracking AV equipment, etc. This position requires approval from the IT department.

*Becoming a TA is that these jobs look good on a college application and raises your level of work experience in the eyes of future employers.

In order to be sign up for these jobs, students must be on course to graduate with their graduating class and 11 credits after Sophomore year or 17 credits after Junior year.

Applications for the program are located in the Guidance office. They must be filled out and turned in within the first 10 days of each semester. Sadly, the due date for this semester has already passed. But be sure to sign up next year panthers!

Senior class t-shirts are available for purchase. This is a great gift idea for your senior son or daughter! The shirts will be on sale through Friday, December 4th, so hurry up and request your order!

Jostens will be here on Tuesday, October 27 for you to make your cap & gown order. You must place your order with a Jostens rep. during your lunch in the commons. You can order your cap, gown, and other senior products.
