Iron Man 2?!

The trailer for the second Iron Man movie was released earlier this week! It doesn’t have any fancy title but it’s sure to be as awesome or even more awesome than the first one. Robert Downey Jr stars as Tony Starks once again.  This time, there

Iron Man and all his glory....

Iron Man and all his glory....

isn’t just one hero, there’s two. War Machine(Don Cheadle) joins in the fight for good. The enemy in the film is none other than Whip Lash(Mickey Rourke)! Black Widow( Scarlett Johansson) also makes an appearance. The movie is to be release on May 7th, 2010. It seems so far away for Iron Man fans. It gives people the chance to see the first movie if they haven’t already. Hey, watch it again even if you’ve seen it already!

Check out the trailer here.

Paranormal Activity

Last night, I went with a friend to see the movie, Paranormal Activity. It is a very creepy movie. Remember those youtube videos that have boring images that you’re supposed to stare at? The videos where this happens…?

Those with faint hearts: DON’T WATCH

Paranormal Activity is like that, only throughout the entire movie. It starts off slow and funny; nothing out of the ordinary really happens at first. But as the movie progresses, you start to realize why everyone’s been talking about this movie. The suspense in knowing that something is about to happen is murder. That’s what this movie plays off of, really. SUSPENSE. (ahem)

I came away from the movie trembling a little. I don’t care if you think i’m a wimp for that; it was just really scary (and only four people were in the entire theater, including me, so that didn’t help). So yeah, watch this movie.

9 Movie Review

Imagine a movie with the best animation of the year. Now think of a awesome concept with great characters. This is the movie 9. Directed by Shane Acker and produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov this movie could have been a smashing hit.

The graphics in the movie 9 raised the bar to a hole new level. The characters and scenery where unimaginable detailed. The movement of the characters was smooth and clear. Although the graphics was not the only thing that made the movie good. The characters in the movie where very well played out. Each of the main characters had its own unique style and personality. The villain in the story was very basic and has been used before but not in the same way. The villain is a robot brain that the military took and turned into a weapon. Then the robot got a mind of its own and turned on the humans. It is a classic plot that has been used many time for an example iRobot.

Even with all this that was put into this movie it still was not the movie you would hope for. Although the graphics where amazing the story line is hard to follow. There was not much of a story that was told about the main characters and their background. This was very disappointing and made the movie not as fun to watch. The movie also failed to have a good story and this hurt it a lot. This is only one thing that was bad about the movie. The movie would have been better if it would have took more time on the background to tell a story then come out with a sequel. They also could have had a little more detail on way each character was the way they where. Unfortunately they didn’t leading to a horrible movie.

In the end the movie gets a bad review by almost anyone who saw it. It was a good thought and could have been the best movie of the year but it wasn’t. Although they did have the ending left open for the sequel it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Movie Review: Zombieland

Zombieland is pretty similar to Shaun of the Dead. It’s a comedy/horror/action movie, but way more focused on the comedy and action.

Tallahassee, Colombia, Wichita, and Little rock

From left to right: Tallahassee, Colombia, Wichita, and Little Rock

Character Role Call! You start off with a kid that has a phobia of everything, a mysterious cowboy zombie killing BA, who then both meet two sisters working together to scam the only survivors left in the country. All the characters are named after where they’re going. There’s Colombia, Tallahassee, Little Rock, and Wichita.

Story! There really is no story. You find out the country is infested by zombies. The only real story is the background on where every character wants to be. The kid with all the phobias wants to get to Colombia to see if his parents are still alive. The cowboy zombie killer wants to get to Tallahassee. The two sisters want to go to two different places but end up going to the same place. The movie is all about surviving the zombie apocalypse.

Action! The movie was pretty short so there wasn’t as much mass zombie killing as I would have liked there to be. The action itself was pretty satisfying though.

Concept! Four survivors surviving the apocalypse. It worked out well. The survivors just living daily life. Although what seemed just tacked on for a date movie was the love interest. It was super cliché.

Special Effects! Special effects were very nice. In the beginning the main character (Colombia) was telling the audience all the rules to surviving the zombie apocalypse and the rules would like pop out in the background and a zombie would like burst through it. The special effects reminded me of Wanted…

Conclusion! It was a very enjoyable 90 minutes to watch. Although a couple things could of been removed or added. Like get rid of the love interest in the two characters and add another 20 minutes or so of action instead. It’s an action/comedy/horror not a date movie. A few more action scenes would of been really nice. When they decide to sleep in a house I would have liked to see them defend it from a horde of zombies. Also the movie was way to short. I did like that there wasn’t really much of a story just them living their lives in a zombie land. This movie was very good and I think it is worth checking out.

Movie Review: Gamer

This Action/Adventure movie was released in theaters on September 4th of 09. Gamer won the award for best trailer and from the IMDb (Internet Movie Database) it received a 6.1/10 from 5,446 votes. I think it was a decent movie, and despite what others may say, I think it could have gone without some of the nudity and profanity, but what can you do?

The movie takes place in the future where convicts, instead of being sentenced to death or life in prison, they can chose to be a part of a massive multiplayer online game called “Slayers” where the convicts are being controlled by other humans. In Slayers, the convict must reach 30 victories in order to be set free. The movie revolves around one convict named Kable, who is trying to reach the top and get back to his family, and the conflicts he faces along the way.

Overall this movie is great if you like graphic, bloody violence, and heart pounding action scenes, but if you are someone who enjoys rabbits, flowers, and rainbows, this movie might not be for you.

This movie is rated R for frenetic sequences of strong brutal violence throughout, sexual content, nudity and language.
