Kailee Wahler and Cody Guetzow
This year Wilmot has three of the eight DECA state contestants going to nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. Kailee Wahler, Cody Guetzow, and Nick Crifase will be leaving this weekend to compete against the top DECA students in the United States. They will have to take two tests and do two role plays. They will need to use marketing skills that they have learned in classes to outsmart the other students and medal. Mrs. Grochowski, Wilmot’s DECA advisor will be with them to help them study and prepare before their tasks. Hopefully they will all come back with medals. Good Luck!

Last Sunday was Key Club and DECA’s Walk for the Life of the Child, it was held on Wilmot high’s track. Every who came to the walk was asked to pay ten dollars to cover the cost of the T shirt and lunch they were given. Most people who walked brought a donation of some sort. Key club’s money was going towards Camp Wawbeek in the Wisconsin Dells, and DECA’s money is going toward the muscular dystrophy association.

As of right now the preliminary amount raised is over 1,500 dollars, I hope to receive the exact amount soon. The Top Donator was Faith Anderson, she raised over 100 dollars. A special thanks goes out to the Westosha Kiwanis Club for the generous donation. Thanks to all who participated!

This week our DECA chapter is celebrating National DECA Week. In honor of this very special occasion, DECA members have hidden over 150 DECA diamonds throughout the building for everyone to find. If you see one or more of these diamonds, take them down and start collecting them. At the end of the week, hand your diamonds into Mrs. Grochowski. The person who collects the most diamonds will win a prize. Keep your eyes open and find those diamonds!!
Also, on Wednesday October 21st DECA would like everyone to participate in the 7th Annual Necktie Day. Be creative, wear it as a belt, use it as a headband, or go the traditional route and wear it with a dress shirt. Just wear those ties – all shapes, sizes and designs are welcome!!
Reminder to all DECA members – Locker DECA-rations should be put up by the end of the day on Tuesday and DECA t-shirt day is on Friday. Those wearing their NEW DECA shirt on Friday will also get a FREE ice cream treat during lunch.
