Wilmot’s Academic Decathlon team has advanced to the Regional competition for the 10th straight year after posting the top score in CESA #2 during local competition.

Wilmot Decathletes earned several individual ribbons for their placement within their respective CESA on identical tests in Math, Science, Economics, Art, Music, and Lang & Lit .

In Art, Caitlin Griffin won the blue ribbon with a score of 780 points (out of 1,000), tallying 760 points both Carter Dybing and Erik Barron tied for the 2nd place red ribbon, and Kelly Senter, Abby Chappell, and Neil Driscoll tied for the 3rd place white ribbon accumulating 740 points each.

Erik Barron won the blue ribbon in Lang & Lit with 740 points, followed closely by red ribbon winning teammate Kelly Senter with 720 points.

In Music, Wilmot AcaDec locals history was made.  Carter Dybing and Erik Barron tied for 1st place statewide with two other Wisconsin decathletes with 780 points.  Way to go guys! Nick DeCaro and Arie Deeter tied for the white ribbon earning 680 points in Music.

Overall, senior Erik Barron placed 2nd in the Honors division with a team-leading 3,723 points.  The Panthers swept the CESA in the Scholastic division led by junior Kelly Senter with 3,300 points.  She was followed by sophomore Caitlin Griffin and junior Nick DeCaro. Sophomore Carter Dybing took the overall blue ribbon in the Varsity division scoring 3,386 points.

The team will next compete on January 13th at UW-Whitewater where in addition to the aforementioned tests the decathletes will compete in Essay, Speech, and Interview.  Wilmot will try to win their 4th Regional championship in past 5 years.
